The strange name of the beach is owed to a beach tavern called so and it covers the eastern end of the some kilometres long and wide beach within the bay of Heraklion. It is a sandy beach affected by the northern winds, situated at a distance of some 10 kilometres far from Heraklion at the East
Very well organised beach, close to Heraklion, it offers full accommodation facilities in many hotels of any kind and category, food and drink in several fish taverns, restaurants, beach bars and cafes. Facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sunbeds, umbrellas, showers), safety (lifeguards) and sea sports are also available on the beach.
Access from Heraklion is possible by public bus, running very frequently, taxi from Heraklion and rented and private car and motorbikes.
