The village Of Koutouloufari is located within such a small distance from Piskopiano that the impression often given is that there is only one village in the area instead of two. While you’re here, it is really worth it to visit the church of Agios Ioannis which dates back to the 16th century as well as the ruins of a three-isled basilica of the 6th century that remain until this day. Some of the items found on the surrounding area of this particular church have been transferred to the museum of Heraklion. In the village there is also an agricultural museum which is housed in an old oil press, where you will be able to see, among other things, some traditional musical instruments, a barrel manufacturing workshop, and a woodworks shop. You will also find a satisfactory range of lodging facilities, cafeterias and restaurants. You can get here either by a rented vehicle or by bus. |
